About US

Our Story

The Mustang was launched in April 1964 at the New York World’s Fair, leading to the formation of the National Council of Mustang Clubs in Dearborn, Michigan. This organization emerged from the National Council of Falcon Clubs, which, for a time, was called the National Council of Falcon/Mustang Clubs. The Falcon Owners Club in Tucson was active and traded cars for Mustangs, resulting in the renaming of the club to The Southern Arizona Mustang Club (SAMC) in May 1965.

Each year, members celebrate new Mustang models, ensuring the longevity of their favorite car. Over the years, SAMC has evolved, with members’ children now driving Mustangs, while some enthusiasts have transitioned to other interests. The club embraces all Mustang years and the diverse interests of its members. Events vary from car shows to road trips, catering to different preferences. SAMC succeeds by providing a range of activities for everyone.

Between activities, members modify and restore their Mustangs, often helping each other with projects or finding parts. The club's mascot, Snoopy, is popular among members and represents the fun spirit of the club. He attends all events and connects with car enthusiasts’ experiences.

SAMC, likely the oldest Mustang club in the U. S. , has a strong commitment from members and support from Holmes-Tuttle Ford since its inception. Originally focused on classic Mustangs, the club now includes all model years and hosts events like “The Great Pumpkin,” a multi-day gathering that started in 1968. SAMC values the community, shared passion for Mustangs, and has benefitted from dealer sponsorship over the years. Despite changes, the club continues to thrive, looking forward to welcoming new generations of Mustang fans.
